“We’re About to Turn It Around” – Perez Confident in Recovery After Las Vegas GP

Sergio Perez Confident In His Return

Sergio Perez has expressed confidence in his ability to turn things around in the final two races of the 2024 season, despite a disappointing result at the Las Vegas Grand Prix . The Mexican is determined to address the issues that have hampered his performance , having scored just nine points in his last five races. Meanwhile, his teammate Max Verstappen has not only won his fourth world title but has also collected 90 points in the same period.

The Challenge For Red Bull Racing

Red Bull Racing have had a number of development and upgrade struggles over the summer, which appear to have affected Perez more than Verstappen. Rivals McLaren and Ferrari have taken advantage of the opportunity to climb up the Constructors’ Championship standings . Although the Milton Keynes -based team has regained momentum, Perez continues to struggle to reach the top of the podium.

A Poor Result In Las Vegas – What Happened?

In Las Vegas , the Q1 exit forced Perez to race for a recovery. He finished the race in P10, an unsatisfactory result. “I think yesterday we understood what happened. This is how things are now. We are going to turn things around. The pace is still there,” Perez said. He believes the team has made progress and has a clear understanding of the root cause of the qualifying difficulties.

Tire Issues Add to the Challenge

A common issue throughout the Las Vegas weekend was the low-grip track and colder temperatures. This prevented Perez from optimizing his tyre performance in qualifying, causing him to miss Q2 for the sixth time this season. The tyre problems continued into the 50-lap race, where he started on hard tyres on a slippery surface.

Perez endured 20 laps on the medium tyre , and a second pit stop dropped him to P15. Ultimately, the Red Bull driver had to fight the pack for a single point at the chequered flag. “I think we were caught out with the level of degradation we had,” he summed up after the race. “We didn’t expect that level, and it really hurt us.”

Looking Forward to Brighter Days After a Tough Weekend

Despite the difficulties, Sergio Perez is determined to improve his performance . He and the Red Bull team are working hard to resolve the technical issues and find effective solutions. With two races remaining, fans have reason to hope for a recovery and better results from the Mexican.
